Eating Substitutes for Bad Foods

The idea of substitution was first introduced to me by my sister. It’s a
simple way to improve your diet without sacrificing the things you enjoy in
that diet. There is no end to substitution and it is not applied in a
single case but every case; simply replace a less healthy ingredient with a
healthier one. Instead of using meat in your pasta sauce, use shredded
carrots, tomato and green peppers. An alternative to using a creamy salad
dressing is to use none at all. Try using no salt in a meal and see if you
can really taste the difference. Ultimately, the unhealthy choices we make
are generally a product of convenience, habit and stereotype, not taste or
desire! When you free yourself of the belief imposed on you by the media
and advertising that happiness comes in the form of a cold beer or a juicy
steak you realize that what is important is increasing the amount of life
you have and substitution is a great way to do this.

Welcome to the world of I Eat Crayons. Bad habit, I know… but it’s better than eating my toenails I’d venture to guess….
